Newspaper share tips : James Fisher, Derwent London, Melrose, Close Brothers

James Fisher shares are a buy for recovery says the Telegraph. The companies marine oil business, which transports crude, is profitable with continued progress within the marine services division. As a cyclical, brokers should re-rate the stock as earnings improve through the cycle.

Office landlord Derwent London remains 'encouraged by the continued improvement' in commercial property market within the city, despite the economic conditions. Rentals have recovered during the year and Derwent's debt has reduced however the Independent remains cautious with the current share prices offering little value.

There is a fair case for taking profits says the Independent who are equally sceptical of Close Brothers commenting that the shares have had a good run and at 12 times earnings isn't cheap. Hold for a potential 5% yield as a high income dividend stock says the Independent.

Investors that believe in Melrose management strategy should go ahead and buy the shares, recons the Times, since most London stock market listed engineering companies seem to have weathered the recession well.

The Times points out that city analysts were upgrading forecasts during the week, with shares are on less than 11 times next year’s earnings, the Times suggests that broker upgrades could be on the way and that investors may consider the shares a 'buy'.
