The Independent says hold publisher Bloomsbury Publishing after results last week revealed that sales of electronic books had supported an otherwise uninspiring update. The rise of e-books presents a challenge for traditional publishers. At the current valuation Bloomsbury does not deserve to be sold, but the Independent remains wary of buying at current levels.

The paper also notes that full-year figures for mechanical drives firm Renold were slightly below expectations at FinnCap and could be part of the reason that the stock fell has fallen back. The Independent recons that the fall was more likely due to profit-taking after a rally since early March and the Independent recommends a buy.

Recruitment firm Harvey Nash Group have revealed a first quarter update that shows revenues up 23% on least year with gross profits 22% higher. The Times recons the figures give an indication of that the economy and executive recruitment could be picking-up, despite gloomier macro-economic data. The shares now sell on around 14 times 2011 earnings, looks high enough for now but the firm is a strong hold, suggests the Times.

First Artist Corporation, the celebrity and media agency representing various well-known sport and TV presenters, could benefit from recent disposal of unprofitable assets. The company will now being renamed Pivot Entertainment and will focus on its core entertainment business areas in Manhattan and New York however, the Times says be wary of rampers on bulletin board postings suggesting that the shares could double.

Engineering firm Avingtrans interim results were good as the firm advised that the full-year figures would be ahead of expectations. The company manufactures critical components to energy, medical, scientific and research and Sigma China, companies aerospace division has exciting prospects given the growth expected in the Chinese aerospace industry. Sharse tipsters in the Scotsman says recommends a buy and not just for cyclical recovery.
